I guess they used the metal detector to try to locate the bullet. I wonder, was his doctor really inept or does it just appear that way with all of the advances in medicine we have had?

If you google the events and the doctor you will see this doctor was inept, selfish and unwilling to listen to others. The metal detector failed to find the bullet, as was later discovered, the president was laying on a bed that had metal springs…unusual at that time. Fascinating and tragic history moment.
