Free Verse: Winter gold

Blooms as if spring

arrived

abundant yellow waxy blossoms

brings warmth to a cold  heart

opens thoughts to memories

of singing birds buzzing bees

winter turns its blind eye

yet  bits of spring winks and glows

Free Verse: Comes gently

An admiring tone brings

respect and devotion

comes gently

Giving a  lilting voice brings the dance

of romance and movement and trust

comes gently

Free Verse: The trumpeter

Sonorous, chilling tune

a captivating tone reaches over the pond

resonates and ripples

The cob shares his talent with his pen

wooing her

mating her

next protecting her and the cygnets

their long necks coupled for family

Free Verse: What’s Nest?

Gathered with purpose
Constructed with instinct and anticipation
Aptness renders a work of art
Situated from elements and harm
An air of expectancy hovers
And then she takes her place

Free Verse: Mother’s Image

Needy nest cries for her care and attention
Watching her wings that leave, hearing her rustling returns
Dependent nestlings instinctively eye her every move
About to fledge, chicks feel her warmth as she nestles close
Have demanded her food and protection
Time to leave her and their cradle
Off they fly with mother’s image

Free Verse Poem: Season’s Sisters

Spring accepts the rain

dancing among her promises and flowers

Summer throws her heat

bringing the great outdoors completely alive

Fall boldly wraps her ending while leaving

vibrant colors  long remembered

Winter serves her cold shoulder

yet offers white and stark beauty
