St. Patrick’s Mountain

Every year, pilgrims and tourists from around the world climb on the slopes of Croagh Patrick in County Mayo,  the holy mountain where St. Patrick is said to have fasted for 40 days and nights as he wrestled with demons who came to him in the form of blackbirds.

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland.  Fascinating facts here about this Christian missionary given credited with converting Ireland to Christianity in the AD 400s.  So many legends surround his life that the truth is not easily found.
