Brodie shares about the “Big Rehearsal”

Who knew?  Stand-ins for the President Elect and the coming First Lady…stand-ins for VP Elect and his wife…practice…practice…practice walks down the steps of the US Capitol to the podium… to assigned seats…walking down Pennsylvania Avenue…waves to imaginary crowds…one big, huge dress rehearsal for the nation’s 58th Presidential Inaugural swearing-in and the Inaugural Parade.  This past Sunday was a dry-run… a stunning effort to address this immensely…monumental logistical, security, protocol, media coverage, crowd control quadrennial inaugural event.  As a golden who does not like to miss anything…here’s the schedule of events…Hail to the Chief!

Brodie streaks through the 2nd floor of the “House”

Well…if you wanted to… you could do the same!  Being honest… I virtually ran through the living quarters of the first family on the second floor of the White House…I’m just obsessed with the transition of power…and the move-in…move-out of the “House of the People”.  So, I ran through that second floor like a golden streak, sniffing every corner and checking for crumbs.  Don’t miss this slice of history that I dug up for you…as we approach the 58th Presidential Inaugural.

My favorite retriever…canine moments were on the “Grand Staircase”…when I was ripping and tearing…skittering on those marvelously carpeted marble steps…I was in awe of the impressive list of folks that have taken those stairs.  I took pause…ok… little golden humor :).

Brodie sniffs out housing for the in-coming Veep

I completely forgot about our new in-coming Veep! Mr. Pence and Mrs. Pence will soon move to Washington, DC.  Where’s he going to live?  Can’t be The White House…so I took a golden moment to check it out.

With their offices located on the White House grounds, every Vice President since Walter Mondale has lived with their families on the grounds of the United States Naval Observatory.

The coolest part of this housing is the Naval Observatory itself, which continues in full operation since 1893. I’d love to go there and be with the Scientists, who study the star and the planets…measure time and  publish vital information that keeps navigators safe on the seas.

So, I’m ready now to welcome the in-coming Veep and his family to their residence on the golden Embassy Row of Massachusetts Avenue!

Brodie barks on presidents passing notes

Passing notes…an age old no…no…in the classroom. Students know this.  But then..talking now…do they pass paper notes these days or do they text each other…ok…so now teachers set ground rules for…No cell phones allowed in the classroom..or put your cell phone in the basket by the door as you enter and pick it up on your way out…if said teacher sees a phone in students hand during class…it becomes the “teacher’s phone” through the remainder of the day…and so it goes.  Well, presidents have been passing notes beginning with George Washington for many reasons…becoming a tradition.

My golden self really likes the note that President Ronald Reagan scribbled for George H.W. Bush… “Don’t let the turkeys get you down.” …left it in the Oval Office desk for “W” to find.  Ha!  But then, Ronnie had no idea that he was starting a tradition…a ritual…a practice…an institution…a praxis between the exiting president and the coming in president.

The notes are rather secretive…they’re personal. But…I wonder if they ever consider mentioning the dog…you know maybe…something simple like…The dog had a blast.  He’ll really miss the Secret Service walks and filing up the official White House Poop bags. Paws Up!

Brodie served “Up” food and the White House Kitchen

I have a new dog diet…it’s golden exciting when something from a can hits my dish…yeah something soft…something that resembles meat…a lick the bowl clean commodity…something that smells like pate instead of just the lonely pebble like kibbles that bounce into my bowl each morning and evening.  Don’t get me wrong…I am grateful and I gobble whatever lands in my bowl…but this stuff is something I could not have dreamt up.  HeHe says he thinks he could eat is on cracker!  Seriously!?!

Now that we’re on food…this article 11 Things Only White House Employees Know...gives insight to the transition of the sitting president leaving the White House and the incoming president-elect moving in…even talks about the transition of food.  That was my favorite section.

I share this gastronomic epiphany with you to enlighten you peeps…yes dogs like “up” cuisine and Hail to the Chief’s food.  Paws Up!
