St. Patrick’s Mountain

Every year, pilgrims and tourists from around the world climb on the slopes of Croagh Patrick in County Mayo,  the holy mountain where St. Patrick is said to have fasted for 40 days and nights as he wrestled with demons who came to him in the form of blackbirds.

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland.  Fascinating facts here about this Christian missionary given credited with converting Ireland to Christianity in the AD 400s.  So many legends surround his life that the truth is not easily found.

Find the light

Light hides in darkness

Challenge the lurking shadows

Mysteries abate

Come light and linger

Creep among the cracks and stones

Be bright and seek grace

“True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us.”

Socrates, we continue to benefit from your common sense.
