Brodie purrs about cats in The White House

Meow!  Yes, that is where this is going.  My golden retriever whiskers want you to read some feline facts about cats who lived in The White House...beginning with Thomas Jefferson all…the way through to George W. Bush.  I personally enjoyed learning that “Once, during a winter visit to General Grant’s headquarters, Lincoln rescued three half-frozen kittens from a Civil War battlefield telegraph hut.  He tucked them in his coat and brought them back to the White House to join Tabby before finding a good home for them.”  Tabby was Tad’s cat, Lincoln’s son.

Just think…rescuing animals has been going on since people have cared.  Now…now that is a hopeful ending. Meow and peace peeps.

This word seems commonplace these days…perhaps a societal statement of the times.

Brodie discovers 43 crumbling busts?

I was simply surfing the Internet looking for a golden find…and voila!…yes you need to check out this truly cool man who recycles concrete, lives in the great Commonwealth of Virginia and who could not dispose of 43 president heads…I know..what?  Well, history gives us 44 presidents to date…right?!….but the bust money ran out for making a 44 head…and now here comes 45…that is the next President… Mr. T  is coming up on January 20… 2017 or bust…paws up peeps!

Golden Brodie misses the lines? Really?

Hey all. I have had my retriever head, my dog brain focused on history. I seem to really enjoy learning about the White House and its past…its families…its traditions…and oh my how things have changed. As we make ready for the coming New Year’s Eve…preparing for the coming 2017…you gotta see these photos…you’ll see that people would que-up by the thousands from 1801-1932…on New Year’s Day to shake the hand of the serving President of the United States…offering cordial wishes & support for the coming year…my dog heart warmed to see these vintage black and white photos…to see the civility…the respect for the office…to see peeps feeling honored to wait on-line for the privilege of waiting…waiting quietly…no barriers…no sight of fear…just calm people…waiting.

So, what did I learn???…looking into history renews my golden outlook and my belief in man-kind.  See ya in 2017…I’m ready for the whole dog-biscuit…can’t wait to do my golden resolutions. Happy New Year!!!
