Hot summer days are just around the corner..so look out for “man’s best friend” and their paws.
“Pavement, asphalt, wood, metal, sand and car or truck surfaces can become very hot during the summer months. These materials absorb heat from the sun and can stay hot for hours even after the sun has gone down. Temperatures on these surfaces can exceed 145° F!”
My golden retriever heart has heaps of pride for the coming Memorial Day. American flags are already flying in my neighborhood…the red, white and blue will wave in the breeze throughout my community…store fronts, restaurants, gas stations…lining the avenues and streets with the “stars and stripes.”
This is quite a sight to see…I am told. Yeah, I can’t go there…but I understand..

Who knew that macaroni and cheese’s lineage is rich with such notables beginning with Marco Polo and going on to… Thomas Jefferson. Who knew that TJ’s cousin, Mary Randolph…his acting hostess in his Virginia home after the death of his wife… served macaroni and cheese made by James Hemings…see James was a slave owned by Thomas Jefferson…TJ had James schooled in the culinary arts in France and then James became his chef…James was among the first chefs in America to serve macaroni and cheese. TJ loved macaroni and cheese. There is so much more to this story.
When walking on the grounds of the National Gallery of Art East Building…you gotta look up! Yeah and then go up on the terrace for a photo opp with “Big Blue.”
This plastic blue dude started out, ruling the roost over the City of London’s Trafalgar Square.

The doodle-blue then crossed over the pond and has found his roost in Washington, DC since last July. Go see this colossal sculpture and check that off your “Golden To Do List.” I’m already waiting in the car…let’s go!
