Brodie barks about dogs going to 9-5
You might not like going to your work…getting up…commuting…commuting back…then get up and do it again. Well, I gotta tell you dogs see it this way…many do not like watching their owners get up…unhappy…sucking on a cup of coffee…then walking at the dog-poop pace…then closing the door behind them… so the work day can begin…staying & waiting for the door to open. It’s a lonely drag for dogs. So, here comes the U.S. Department of Interior…(Mind you I am not a political creature.)…wanting to allow their employees…on Fridays…to bring their dog to work! It’s a trial…its a let us see if this helps create a “happy” department!!! How golden cool is that?!
So, get out of the way…pour me some java…get the poop thing going and off WE go! Nobody left at home to see that door close. Paws up on this one.
Why allowing dogs in the office is a good idea.
Uncomplicated Thoughts: Unique
Golden thoughts about “Move-it-in and Move-it-out”
As a mature golden retriever I work each day on staying calm…but things that really upset me have to do with moving things around…you know like rearranging the furniture…putting things into boxes and suitcases…I just get a little worried. Well, the biggest move is about to happen tomorrow in the White House…“The most frenzied American ritual you’ve never seen is called the “transfer of families,” a five-hour tsunami of activity that transforms President Obama’s home into President Trump’s.”

If I were there for this frantic…beat the clock move…I’d position my golden-self in the kitchen…no boxes…no relocating stuff…just folks cooking up a storm of food for the coming guests of the President…which opens up the possibility for crumbs…perhaps a scrap or two!?! Peace…Paws Up!
Golden Brodie misses the lines? Really?
Hey all. I have had my retriever head, my dog brain focused on history. I seem to really enjoy learning about the White House and its past…its families…its traditions…and oh my how things have changed. As we make ready for the coming New Year’s Eve…preparing for the coming 2017…you gotta see these photos…you’ll see that people would que-up by the thousands from 1801-1932…on New Year’s Day to shake the hand of the serving President of the United States…offering cordial wishes & support for the coming year…my dog heart warmed to see these vintage black and white photos…to see the civility…the respect for the office…to see peeps feeling honored to wait on-line for the privilege of waiting…waiting quietly…no barriers…no sight of fear…just calm people…waiting.

So, what did I learn???…looking into history renews my golden outlook and my belief in man-kind. See ya in 2017…I’m ready for the whole dog-biscuit…can’t wait to do my golden resolutions. Happy New Year!!!

Brodie learns about food rationing
It’s Thanksgiving soon and we are all consumed with the associated thoughts of feasting, family and friendship. How fortunate I feel. My peeps will have one familial event recorded on their many cell phones, iPads, 35mm cameras and Skype. Then they’ll post the stuff on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on. The social aspects roll on. That’s todays fun and entertainment.
I want to take you back to two periods in our USA history…a time when we were at war, WWI and WWII. I bring this up because during those difficult years we as a nation buckled down. Food was scarce. Food went first to the troops. People bought limited amounts of certain commodities through rationing…ration stamps. So my golden mind took me to those times, thinking about what Thanksgiving was all about then…
Rationing came into place by our government and families were strongly encouraged to eat simply…meatless meals…and forget about sugar. What a prized commodity sugar became…and coffee…and flour…yes the very basics. I’m thinking everyone worked together, helped out and got involved in the war effort…while missing their stuff.
I feel golden sure that on Thanksgiving Day folks were even more grateful for whatever they had as they struggled. But then…the food was secondary for those who had loved ones serving in the war…those who had lost a loved one…and those who simply felt the unrest of not knowing what the future held.
Our country held together and came out on this side of freedom both times. This Thanksgiving season I’m going to say a special thanks to those serving our nation and especially to those away from home …and a special moment for those who we have lost…we will remain forever a grateful nation.
So this Thanksgiving, my grateful heart will enjoy watching all of the cell phone action, getting my many pets and walks and giving out my goldeness. Peace baby and paws Up!
P.S. Dogs don’t do coffee but…How fortunate that you can have as many Starbuck’s with all of the sugar possible…all of the cream…whenever…
Brodie hides from the “Spin”
I curled up nose to tail in front of the wide-screen to watch the second presidential debate (debate???really???)…in St. Louie…town hall forum. The zingers began adding up…I started scratching my ears and placing my paws over my eyes as I listened to the “Spin and the Pivoting”…and then I sequestered myself…hiding in the closet. I kept waiting for the “going high part”…
Twenty minutes in…ending in the nearest closet was a good move for me. Each of the candidates moved me to go high in my own way…so my golden self decided to move away…leave it…drop it… Sometimes going into a happy place can help us all. The closet became that spot.
Next time you hear from me…I’ll share with you some information about polling and how it “should work.” Look for it. Paws up!

Brodie here. Golden Commentary and Contemplation 12
So yeah, where were we. Last we were together, political confusion was swirling. My golden mind still needs clarity. I’m lost in a golden sea regarding the political scenes that keep rolling through the news feeds, newspapers, social media and the air in general. The words, yes the lingo is perplexing.
Presidential hopefuls or aspiring presidential hopefuls are often referred to as blithering or dithering. Confusing. Blithering, I get this one…that’s someone that babbles…and what is babble…well, I think I babble when I really want something like bacon and I don’t get it…so I babble..you know…make noise..hoping for a positive outcome. Then dithering…well that’s a wee more complicated. See, to a dog a dithering person is someone (a well-meaning individual, of course) who says one thing with words…like “Sit”, when what they really want is a “down”… and my friends there is a difference. “Dithering politicians”, just need more training…they need to get out of their own way.
These are confusing times, these are the best of times.
